Denver Date Night ! Experiencing Our Own Backyard!

My husband, Nick and I were born and raised in Colorado. We grew up in Arvada, which is just about 20 minutes outside of Downtown Denver. It is so funny how when we travel we make a huge effort to visit all of the top dining and hang out spots in each city we visit... but we seldom make an effort to explore our home town, Denver!

A few weeks ago we went on a double date with our amazing friends Lance and Benny. They are the type of guys who know all the hot spots downtown. They know where to get the best drinks, most amazing food, and where to have an amazing conversation with some wine over candlelight. Because they currently live in a condo downtown, they really are the go-to guys for finding downtown hot spots! Anyways... we went on a double date with them and had the best time! We first went to a restaurant called D-Bar. I've been wanting to try this place for months now because the D stands for dessert, and based on how much I love chocolate... it was a must. We had dinner and dessert there then headed over to the newly renovated Union Station for cocktails. Both places had fabulous service and the food/drinks were amazing.

At D bar I had nutella beignets. Oh my gosh they were delicious! I am a nutella fan so that was heaven for me. They are on the "a little something extra" menu. It comes with three beignets, you can see one in the picture below. Three was surprisingly filling! After those delicious bites of heaven, I had a cappuccino and Nick had ice cream! We loved everything we ate and drank there. Lance and Benny had dinner entrees and loved what they got too. I would absolutely recommend this place! I might even make Nick take me there next month for my birthday!

Union Station had such top notch service. This place was a blast. The design of the building makes you feel like you've gone back in time to the 1920's. We sat and had cocktails at The Cooper Lounge in Union Station. Union Station has a lot of shops and restaurants to choose from. At Cooper Lounge they brought us complementary champagne, with dark chocolate bites. They also brought us complimentary nuts which was a nice touch, especially because at this point I had dessert, coffee and wine... I was craving something salty since I had a sugar overload at D-Bar. The drink prices here are reasonable, not overpriced. Honestly though, even if they were, it would be worth it because the atmosphere is so special.

This date night really made me realize that Nick and I need to adventure around and explore Denver more often! We have tons of amazing things to do here and we take it for granted. I hope this inspired you to get out and explore your own city!
