9 Month Baby Update For Baby Luke
With our first born I wrote several pregnancy updates, a birth story post and countless “baby updates”… and of course for our sweet baby boy # 2 he simply gets a 9 month baby update and that’s it. The reality is, with more and more kids there becomes less time for things of this nature, but I truly do love looking back on posts like this so I’d like to get better about staying on top of it all. So here we go, let me try to cram 9 wonderful months with our Luke Antonio Greco into one little blog post…

Luke has been a treat since the day we brought him home. The newborn stage with Luke was completely different than with Giulian. With G we were too busy being blindsided by parenthood to actually relax and enjoy our new bundle of joy. With Luke, we came in as “pros”, and the “we’ve done this once, we can do it again” mentality caused us to relax a lot more. Our first few weeks at home with Luke we just completely settled in, embracing the messy house and chaos that is welcoming a new baby into the family. Giulian was instantly disappointed to realize his new best friend wasn’t ready to run around and play soccer with him right off the bat. When we brought him home Giulian said “put him on the floor so I can play with him” and of course we had to explain to Giulian that his baby brother was fragile and couldn’t play just yet. Well, fast-forward a few months and Luke really chunked up quick! He became a more solid baby and easier for him big brother to play with quicker than we all anticipated. You can tell Luke is trying to keep up with his big brother. He already looks up to him so much, you can see it in the way he looks at Giulian. They are seriously so precious together, I feel like I’m constantly swooning over them laughing together. At 9 months now I can feel us coming out of the stage of me constantly saying “be careful with your baby brother”.
I wish I had done more updates throughout Luke’s life so far, but for now I’ll just jump right into what he’s up to currently.
Favorite Foods:
Eggs! Currently his absolute favorite food is an egg over easy made with ghee. Especially when Daddy makes it of course (he is the egg master in our household). He also loves when I puree avocado and he has also just started to be able to eat “puffs” which has been so great! He’s obsessed with the puffs haha it’s adorable, he wants them on his tray at all times during our walks. I love watching his chubby little fingers pick up the puffs off his tray. Another favorite of Luke’s is cucumber. I’ll cut a large chunk off of a cucumber and let him suck on the whole thing. We do a little “baby led weaning” I suppose, we give him cucumber and large carrots to suck on and he loves it.
Milestones:
Luke is now crawling!! He started last week, to be exact it was on July 19th at 8:48 pm and we caught it all on video! It was almost like he waited for Daddy to be home so everyone could see his new little skill. Nick sat him on the ground and bam Luke just got into position and gave us a few crawling strides. It was so precious, his chubby little body crawling is probably the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
This last week he also started holding his own bottles, which is so helpful of course. It seems as though at 8.5 months he made some significant big leaps in development.
What He Dislikes:
Luke absolutely hates when you take something from him, like 0 to 100 really quick. He melts down as if you hurt him. In fact, if you didn’t know better and took something from him, you’d probably think you accidently hurt him based on his reaction. Mommy has caught on though and knows he just gets super pissed and he wants what he wants. Looks like I’ve got another stubborn Greco boy on my hands.
He also hates being inside too much. Which I love that he is like this! He’ll get grumpy if we’re inside too much and he will want to go on a walk or sit outside for a bit and then his attitude is much better. He’s so similar to his brother in this way, Giulian wanted to go on daily walks rain or shine.
Favorite Toys:
Basically anything of brothers haha. He wants to play with anything and everything he shouldn’t play with, and he cries so hard when we take the toys away from him.
Teeth:
He got his first two teeth around 8 months! The two bottom teeth finally popped through and now he is currently getting the top four teeth! Four at once and he’s being such a trooper despite all of the pain he is probably in.
Clothing Size:
Well, Luke is our BIG guy!! He is currently in 18-24 month clothing. Which is of course double his age! It’s seriously precious how big he is. I’m so curious to see if the chunk sticks once he’s more mobile or if he will shed the baby chub.
First Words:
Luke’s very first word was Baba, and I knew he understood what it meant because of the timing that he’d say it. I wish I remembered when he first said that, if I had to guess maybe around 7 months. Now he says Dada all the time!! That’s his favorite word for sure. Both G and Luke’s second words were Dada, although G’s first word was Mama.
How’s Big Brother?
Giulian is loving being a big brother! It’s so cute to watch them together, I truly believe they were meant to be brothers. Luke thinks Giulian is the coolest, funniest kid in the world. He just stares at him and laughs at almost anything G does. I am so excited to watch them grow together, hopefully staying the best of friends.
