Intentions For Our Final Weeks as a Family Of Three
We are on the home stretch of this pregnancy. At the time of writing this I’m 37 weeks pregnant, and baby is due in just 3 short weeks. We just had an ultrasound at 36 weeks and baby is in the perfect birth position and his head is extremely low. He’s locked and loaded! Naturally I’m hoping he comes a little early, maybe a week or so, as I’m sure most pregnant women feel the same way. We are eager and excited to meet our second little boy and can hardly believe it’s coming up so soon!
With only a few more weeks (or days) left as a family of 3, I have been thinking a lot about what I want this moment in time to be like and where I’d like our focus to be. Here are my intentions for this season we are in…
More Date Nights
Nick and I have been trying to cram as many date nights in as possible. We know exactly what it’s like to have a newborn and we know that it’ll be a little while before date nights are as easily accessible to us. It’s important for us to get this quality time in before we enter this new season of life with two children, a newborn and a 3 year old.
Quality Time With Giulian
It’s also important for Nick and I to spend a lot of quality time with Giulian right now. We want him to know he’s special and loved during this transition period where so much of the talk and focus can be about the new baby coming. We’ve been trying to make extra time for the park and taking walks with all 3 of us. We’ve also been trying to explain to him that it’s special to be a big boy and he gets special privileges as a big boy that babies don’t get. Praying the transition goes well and G loves his new role as big bro.
Be Productive With Work
When the baby is born I’d love to unplug from blogging and social media for a few weeks. Even if I’m on a bit, I’d like it to be at my leisure and not for campaigns. So I’m trying to cram in as much work as I can right now before baby comes. I’m so grateful to be busy with work right now, I love what I do, but it’ll be so nice to have a lot of these collaborations wrapped up prior to our little guy making his arrival. I’ve also been trying to do some prep work so that it makes the first few months a bit easier.
Nesting and Organizing
We really would love for our house to feel the best it can prior to baby coming. Over the last few months we’ve spent a ton of work organizing, purging, putting stuff in storage and purchasing new furniture and décor items. We really want our space to feel wonderful and be extremely functioning and organized before the baby comes. A big reason for this is because we thought we were going to buy a house prior to the baby coming, but a few things came up with that and we decided to push pause on house hunting and stay put. We technically have enough space, but we aren’t in the larger house we anticipated being in so we are trying to make the best out of the space we do have.
Rest
Okay this one is a hard one for me, which is hilarious because I’m serious when I say I was the queen of napping prior to becoming a mom. My family would call me a “professional napper” because I’d take a nap every day if I could, and I loved every minute of it. Well, I’m not totally sure what changed but I’m absolutely not that person anymore. My mindset now is that there is always more that can be done, so why nap and waste time. Talk about a 180. The truth is I need to cool it a tad and remember to rest during this season of the final weeks of pregnancy. From what I remember, having a newborn baby is THE single most exhausting thing in the world, but this time I’ll have a newborn and an energetic toddler so I need to get all the rest and sleep in as I can now while I’ve got the chance. I’m literally writing this during naptime though, so I’ve gotta be honest I’m not making much progress here.
I’m so grateful that we captured these amazing family photos as a family of three and one on the way. Honestly it’s something I almost didn’t get done, I didn’t even think I cared to have them done but wow I’m so beyond grateful we took these photos. I will legit cherish them FOREVER! They represent such a special season in our lives. Our sweet little boy who is now 3, enjoying our final chapter with him being an only child before our sweet rainbow baby enters the world! If you’re reading this and in Colorado, we’d absolutely recommend Amy with Amy Lacy Photography! She specializes in family photography and does tons of maternity and newborn shoots (she even has a bundle to save you money if you need both done). We are so thrilled with how our photos turned out, we even got them printed and created an entire gallery wall in our living room using the photos. Totally check her out!
