Where to eat in Rome?

My husband and I must admit... We were not 100% impressed with the food in the heart of Rome. Which totally surprised us! So, we have a few tips for those of you traveling to Rome in the future!!!

1. Pub Cuccagna

There was an AMAZING pub in Rome, close to Piazza Navona, on a side street. We were getting frustrated with the food, then we noticed many locals going into this Pub... So we figured, go where the locals go, that's where the good food must be. And that's SO right! The pesto and pizza here was amazing! The wine was also great! We came back 2 more times while in Rome! Try it out !

2.  Eat in a Piazza at least once!

A Piazza is a public square or market.

The food might not be the absolute best, and it may be a tad pricey in the Piazzas , but the ambiance is amazing. Between the wine, food, music, and people... The Piazzas are amazing places to enjoy a romantic dinner in Rome. Our favorite was Campo De Fiori! Also, Piazza Navona!

3. Eat in Trastevere !

Trastevere is south of Vatican City and is right across the river. The food there is about half the cost and triple the flavor! It was some of the best food we had in all of Italy! Trastevere is also where we had our favorite gelato in Rome. There are many restaurants , and I don't think you'll find a bad one.

The night life in Trastevere was also great! The locals seemed to come out to party in Trastevere! We were there in August and there was many activities going on in the streets at late hours of the nights.

Our receipt at a restaurant in Trastevere! Only 22 EU and I had a 4 course meal, we had a liter of wine, water, and Nick had a pizza! Amazing!
